Preservation of historical and cultural values

The ARALEZ Scouts of Armenia have initiated a program to preserve historical and cultural heritage, which includes photographing and publishing images of Cross stones online. The goal is to ensure that, like the Cross stones of Julfa, they do not vanish and that the rich history of our nation is safeguarded on the internet for future generations.

Julfa's Cross Stones

In 1648, according to the traveler Alexander Rodes, there were around 10,000 well-preserved Cross stones.

Noratus

In Noratus, there is the largest collection of Cross stones in the Republic of Armenia a.k.a. the Forest of Cross stones.

Salt Lake chapel

The chapel of "Salt Lake" is surrounded by a cemetery, where there are more than a hundred complete and fragmentary Cross stones, flat slabs, dating from the 7th to the 17th centuries.
